Prosecutors to call minister

Prosecutors at the trial of Muhammad Nazaruddin over the Rp 191.7 billion (US$21.08 million) corruption scandal will summon Youth Affairs and Sport Minister Andi Mallarangeng to testify as a witness.
“We have four witnesses left,” prosecutor Edi Hartoyo told reporters Friday evening after a court session trying, former Democratic Party treasurer Nazaruddin of a case surrounding the construction of an athlete’s village for the 2011 Southeast Asian Games in Palembang, South Sumatra.
“We will present Andi Mallarangeng and Nining Indrasaleh on Wednesday.”
Nining is the House of Representatives secretary general, while Andi is also the secretary of the party’s board of patrons.
Other than the two officials, Edi said that on Monday he would also summon businessman Paulus Iwo and Wawan Karmawan – a staffer of PT Duta Graha Indah.
Prosecutors accused Nazaruddin of taking bribes from the company to win the tender for the athlete’s village.
